Parish Mail is written like a TV series–there are over-arching mystery and romantic story arcs that extend between the episodes, while each episode has a smaller case that is presented and solved. Along the way, I will asks you, the reader, to make several small decisions as you read. These choices do not impact the overarching storyline, but certain combinations “unlock” clues to the series’ mystery, which are embedded in the text.

Slate had a pretty easy and normal life. Until one night, a car accident takes both of his parents and his voice, leaving him a mute orphan. Little seven year old Slate is then placed in Isabailey's Orphanage. Slate is now sixteen and still at the orphanage. He has been passed from one foster family to the next. It would seem no one wants a mute child. Oddly, he is alright with this. He goes about his days silently doing his chores and spending time alone. One day, the owner of the orphanage ends up having to live there. She brings along her nephew, Hunter, who instantly spots Slate. Curious, he starts talking to Slate and tries to get to know him. After being alone for so long, Slate isn't sure how he feels about this new guy being around him so much. Read on to find out if Hunter can get him to open up and not feel so alone.
