There is more to a dog then meets the eye. Because every dog has a story. The same way you have a story. So never look at a dog and think that their life has been, being born and then adopted because most likely there is so much more to it... Chocolate is a purebred German Shepard. It is an (obviously) unspoken rule of dogs that purebreds are lucky. They are more likely to be adopted and have happy lives. But nothing about Chocolate's life is happy. Will that change? As a runt, Jade didn't think she'd ever find a pack willing to accept her, even though she has gained an impressive set of skills while surviving in No Man's land. A chance encounter provides the opportunity to prove her worth, but when she arrives, against all odds, she picks up an irresistible scent. Her soulmate. Standing at a crossroads, she must decide if she's willing to grasp at her chance of unconditional love-and risk the heart-rending pain of rejection. As a runt, the odds are not in her favor. -------- On a side note: None of the main characters are mated to an Alpha. No character has 'exclusive' abilities or powers. ----- Excerpt: My steps faltered as I noticed that two of the pursuing wolves had sped ahead and were waiting to intercept me. I launched toward a tree and ricocheted off at a ninety-degree angle without slowing down. One of the wolves behind quickly followed and began closing in. I started to panic, looking around frantically for a way to escape. I saw a rabbit burrow under a small bramble bush and desperately raced towards it. I darted under the edge of the plant and heard the tan wolf go around as he expected me to come out the other side. It gave me the precious seconds I needed to squeeze down the tunnel. My relief was short-lived - the rabbit that dug this burrow had not survived long enough to finish it. The tunnel was only about twice as long as the average human arm, and I could clearly see the entrance. I sent a silent prayer that the bramble bush would deter them and that they would not realize just how shallow this burrow was. I waited anxiously. Pain is all Alex has ever known. Taken from his people as a child, he was trained to be a hunter for the humans. Alex's mixed blood makes him an asset for tracking, so he spends his days gathering Kiya to work in the factories with the other Haydeans owned by the company. His only knowledge of the world outside The White City comes from the stories he hears from them. None of which are very pleasant as Haydeans attack hybrids for fun. Their mixed blood is viewed as an insult to the proud humanoid race, and the purebloods make that known. Besides the threats from the others, Alex is punished for any failure by Sir. The human has invested a small fortune in the hybrid and has big plans for the boy when Alex is approved to enter The Black City. But when an opportunity to escape The Tower presents itself, Alex takes it. Despite the dangers, he races off across the desert and begins his long journey home, where he hopes a family might be waiting for him.
