Sir Guy of Gisborne comes back from the Holy Land, on his conscience the knowledge of having killed Marian. Appointed Sheriff of Nottingham in the place of Vaisey, he struggles to find a way to make up for his past wrongdoings, but it's a very hard task. Guy meets again - after many years - Lady Violet of Chetwood, a childhood friend of Robin Hood; the widow of a man who mistreated her, the young woman has returned to her ancestral mansion and has always helped her friend Robin since he has been declared an outlaw, and therefore she's not well-disposed towards Guy, whom she knows since she was a child. Complicated dynastic events, however, will force her to approach precisely the black-clad knight for a marriage of convenience... What if a work of fiction wasn't fiction at all? What if we only thought it was fiction because it was written down, and we were separated from it by the page? Isabel Darrow, troubled by her past and feeling disconnected from the world, likes her doctor's suggestion that the world of fiction might become reality. She likes the idea of waking up in the middle of her favourite book with the handsome, brooding Mr Thornton glaring at people in his mill yard, but she doesn't worry about the foul air of dirty, smoky Milton, because it's not real, and it was written over 160 years ago. But then she takes a trip to Oxford, and gets waylaid along the way, finding herself greeted at a smoky train station, by a man called Mr Hale, who claims to be her godfather. When Isabel meets Margaret and first sees Mr Thornton, she's determined to help the course of love run a little more smoothly for the two stubborn lovers. But Gaskell hadn't accounted for a second young lady in the Crampton house, and whilst Isabel tries to adapt to a life where women have no independence or equality, Milton must adapt to her. The question is, will Mr Thornton adapt to her, or Margaret, first?

Although I'm not a huge fan of the 2006 series Robin Hood, I love how Richard Armitage plays Guy of Gisborne. I always thought that Marian made a huge mistake in not marrying Guy. Yes, he was not the best of men, but she could have given him the love he needed to break away from the Sheriff. I have changed the scene where she runs away with Robin, so that she actually marries Guy, and finds out he might not be so bad after all.

STILL UNDER EDITING BECAUSE I AM TRASH Linda of Nottingham has a problem: she's living in hell. Her father has over looked her ever since his failed mission in the Holy Land, blaming her in the process, her best friend who she considered to be her sister is dead, and the Prince-the very man who had her mother killed-is coming. Yay. Guy, however, feels worse. He's been to the Holy Land before, but this time it went bad... like really bad. He killed the one person in his life he could not live without, the Sheriff is putting even more pressure on him than before, and the Prince was coming and demanded so much of him. But he finds his heart has twisted. In fact, they both do... for each other. But how long will it take for them to find out, and will they still be alive by the time everything rolls through?
