It's 1995, and Castiel's high school years are destined to be difficult: home-schooled until eighth grade, he is awkward, shy, and socially inept. The weird kid with the funny name would rather isolate himself and draw in his sketchbook than deal with the constant bullying he faces every day. Things only get worse in his junior year when he excels in home economics class, leading the captain of the baseball team, Alastair, to start taunting him for being gay. Then new student Dean Winchester arrives at Flour Bluff High School, sharing many of Castiel's classes. Castiel has seen his type before -- handsome, athletic, arrogant, and sure to be the most popular kid in school. But Castiel eventually learns that he and Dean have more in common than he thought, and they form an unlikely friendship. This story was originally published October 20, 2010 as part of the Dean/Cas Big Bang Challenge. Warnings: Bullying, homophobic language, some violence related to bullying. [Short Story] When Robin Park is diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, her entire world seems to change. Her only constant is the Merriam Webster Collegiate Dictionary-- a tool that comes in handy whenever she needs to define things like complex human emotions. Until she meets Vana, that is. Now it seems the dictionary isn't helping her much at all. 🏆Featured in Short Story's Puppy Love reading list.🏆 🏆Featured in LGBTQ+'s GirlxGirl Teen Fiction reading list.🏆 [©2017-2018. In the tradition of William S. Burroughs, the decent into madness comes to a realization of truth concerning the loss of a child, a doctor and his cruel and yet passionate intentions. In this short story, one will find the aching soul, the loss wanderer in the streets, and anyone who has ever felt hopeless within a world of Orwellian madness.

A new novel. In his autobiography, Dizzy Gillespie wrote, "To get the best band, go to K-Y. That meant the best band was in Lexington, Kentucky, at the federal narcotics hospital." "Jazz Farm" is fiction, but based on characters at the infamous United States Narcotic Hospital (or Narco Farm). Former "residents" included Chet Baker, William Burroughs and Sonny Rollins. The CIA secretly experimented with LSD on patients there in the 1950s and early 1960s. This story is set in 1965 and is told through the eyes of a fraternity "social chairman" who is captivated by the music and the musicians and finds gigs for them climaxing with a Kentucky Derby-eve concert at the state mental hospital.
