Paraphrased excerpt- I looked around the school yard, at the lush trees and dying flowers. The nip that was in the air was fresh and crisp. Hundreds of people were lounged out in the yard, soaking up the last rays of sun before the winter finally came full force. Out of the hundreds of people I was only looking for one person: Nalia. My eyes ran across the crowds in sweeps until I spotted a girl with brown hair, brown eyes, brown skin. "Nalia!" I started running across the yard, dashing around people that kept getting in my way. My path was blocked only 10 feet ahead by Hallie Baker. The high heel wearing, nerd crushing, mean, bullying b*tch of the school. "Woah woah woah where you going at such a quick pace slut?" I could smell her fake bubblegum perfume oozing off her body. "To my sister dim wit. She's behind you waving me over." Hallie brought her hand up. "No that's not what I asked. I asked where you were going. Not to whom." She popped the lid off of her Starbucks cup. She maneuvered it until it was placed right over my dirty blonde hair. "So prepare for punishment." She flipped the cup over. The sensation of water didn't wash over me though. I looked up at the cup. There, above my head, was all the liquid in the cup. It was suspended in mid air, by the silence of the crowd. I focused on the liquid. It moved in front of me and up, up, up until it was over Hallie's head. I could see the gasps and dropped jaws from my classmates. I was doing this. No one else. Me.

{Highest Ranking: #178 in Fantasy} - March 4th, 2017 - Meet Kyla Morgan, an ordinary 16-year-old girl who has always loved the ocean. "Ordinary", yeah okay! That's what she thought just 24 hours ago when everything made sense. Her beach house had always been a place of comfort and familiarity. Now, it was full of mystery and unanswered questions. It was always more than just a "love" for the ocean. It gave her power and strength in times of need and calmed her when she was nervous or stressed. She's never figured out why. She's always had this feeling in her gut, like a magnetic attraction to the water. Something that she cannot control. She's just a beautiful girl with a beautiful name and an amazingly gorgeous ability. Copyright © 2016 by Kaitlin Topping All Rights Reserved.
