"Everybody's got a dark side. Can you love me? Can you love mine?" -Kelly Clarkson - Dark Side I could never escape my past. It was always there haunting me. Something always reminded me, sickening me with the grisly nostalgia, making sure I never forgot. I never could. And I never did. When I met him I knew it was his fault. I knew he was the cause, who had reminded me all of my life. He was the face I saw in my nightmares and the face I saw shatter my daydreams. He was the shadow lurking in the corners of the most traumatizing events of my life. He was my haunting past and the threat to my future. He was the demon of my soul that I could never elude, for he always found me. He was everything I hated in the world, and the reason behind it too. He was my dark side. And I love him. A U T H O R ' S N O T E : This is a completed full-length novel, that took me almost exactly a year to write, and I hope you like it! Some chapters are longer than others, ranging from 500-2,500 words, so I hope that doesn't bother you. Though I don't feel it needs to be rated as mature, some characters do curse, and there are graphic scenes of death. This book also contains abuse; however, these scenes are not portrayed horrifically. or often. I do not think it is enough to extremely upset anyone, or make anyone uncomfortable. Thank you for finding my story and giving it a chance, and I really do hope you like it. Vote if you do, and don't forget to comment! I love knowing what others think, and I enjoy honest critiques good or bad. Xoxo, Lala

Love & Monsters is a story I worked on when I took my first novel writing class at UCLA. Since I lost my sister to suicide, I've been fascinated with exploring mental illness and providing any insight I can to eradicate the stigma. Love & Monsters follows Heather Bateman, a girl who has suffered from schizophrenia all her life but has only recently been diagnosed. She tries to socially recover from a very public mental breakdown with the help of her best friend Wren and a strange new boy who calls himself Nex.

ONCE my mom told me that we, as humans, only fear what we do not know and that that is the sole reason for violence. We do not know what is to come of something, so in retaliation we immediately fight it off before we can ever find out; before we can ever see if there is any beauty in it. My mom is gone now. Along with any sanity we as a people have left. The year is 2193, and the world is at war. We, humans, are at war with each other only because of what we are and what we can do. We fear what we do not know, thus all we know is ignorance. The government, our democracy, our people and our world have fallen. Nothing good ever comes from being afraid of the abnormalities of others, especially when those abnormalities are amazing. The truth is, none of us are normal. Everyone's definition of normality is different, making it humanly impossible for anyone to ever accomplish the craved label of "normal". Then again, everything we have grown capable of was once described as humanly impossible. By those standards none of us are human. Not even me. A U T H O R ' S N O T E : This book is completed and there will be a second book coming out sometime next year, most likely in the summer. Please excuse any grammar issues or misspellings I have. I hope there are not many, but please consider I do all of the editing myself. Also this is a revised edition of Incapable - Book I: The Fallen. I think I have made it much better than the original story I wrote in the summer of this year and posted only a few months ago. I hope you enjoy! Happy reading. Xoxo, Miquéla P.S. I'm more than open to Q & A in the comments section or on my board if you have any questions regarding the book or just in general. :)
