Hiccup Haddock the Third was an outcast from his own village, even to his father. When he met Toothless, he felt something he has lost long ago. The belonging of a family. He never thought he could leave Berk. However, when he was chosen to kill the Monstrous Nightmare, his own fears were overcome by something else. The feelings to protect his own. He never thought of coming back. But fate had other plans.

After a raid that almost cost him his life, Hiccup tries to gain the village's trust and their forgiveness for unintentionally injuring three young children. With a reputation of being a nuisance to his village, Hiccup wished things were different. Neglected by his own tribe,and his own father, Hiccup begins to fall into depression. His life changes when he encounters a dragon in the woods- the legendary night fury. Determined, he tries to shoot it down and finally make his chief father and the village proud. When he couldn't give himself to kill a dragon, Hiccup learns dragons aren't as bad as they seem.
