This is a book about the life and adventures of a cat who matches none of the criteria above. With the help of her troubled friend and two brothers, she helps an estranged, star-crossed leader, attends elementary school, serves as a spy, gains the favour of a wild Twoleg kit, forms a rebellion with a hamster, and basically ends up in every Code-breaking situation there is. Many, many moons after Firestar lost his ninth life saving the forest, his legacy now lives on in the stories elders share with bored apprentices and kits. The Clans haven't been disrupted for seasons, and the cats within them are calm and settled. But, StarClan has gone silent, and many have begun to doubt their ancestors' true power despite the old tales. RiverClan is straying further and further from them each day, and from the warrior code as well. With their ancestors growing quieter and quieter, and with the Clans facing struggles in their own homes, their future seems dark and unseen - after all, everything must come to an end.
