Journal Number 3 from the hit tv show Gravity Falls, created by Alex Hirsch, was released on July 26th of 2016. Ford's journal is packed with every page ever seen in the show, plus many others, but it is also packed with something else: CODES. In this book, I will be decoding every page in the journal myself, and then posting the decoded pages. I'll even do tutorials on how to use several different encoders and ciphers, along with information about that cipher. WARNING- Spoilers for Journal 3. (Obviously.) Do not read this book if you want to read the Journal unspoiled, or if you want to crack the codes yourself. Thank you.

"01001001 00100000 01101100 01101111 01110110 01100101 00100000 01111001 01101111 01110101." "What was that?" Rolling my eyes, I tried putting on my best poker face. Those were binary numbers, that's all I knew. "Well, guess," he smirked deviously. I narrowed my eyes at him - how was I supposed to know? It's not like I was a computer. 0100101... I? My thoughts were racing quickly as I tried figuring out the corresponding alphabetical letters of the numbers. After around 30 seconds, I gave up trying. Sighing in defeat, I gave him the puppy eyes, "Can you just tell me what you want?" Grinning like a Cheshire Cat, he leaned forward and stared straight into my eyes. I could feel his breath on my face as my cheeks flushed to the colour of scarlet. Our foreheads were almost touching. My breath hitched at the close proximity between us, and my heart was pounding so hard it was if it's going to break through my ribcage at any moment. Just when I felt too embarrassed and tried breaking the eye contact by turning away, he stroked my right cheek gently, still holding his gaze and murmured, "It's 'I love you' in binary."

I hope you like the collection (All pick-up lines or comebacks are copyrighted to their owners, though some are made by yours truly!). Also, later on, I'll put some pictures to some parts so you don't get bored.

The need to conceal the meaning of important messages has existed for thousands of years. Over time, people have found increasingly complex ways of encoding their messages as the simpler ways are decoded with greater ease. Contrary to layman-speak, codes and ciphers are not synonymous. A code is where each word in a message is replaced with a code word or symbol, whereas a cipher is where each letter in a message is replaced with a cipher letter or symbol. In fact, when most people say "code," they are actually referring to ciphers. Ancient scripts and languages have been understood using decoding and deciphering techniques, most famously the Rosetta Stone of Ancient Egypt. In fact, codes and ciphers have determined the outcome of politics and wars throughout history. There are thousands of types of hidden messages, but here we look at only ten as an overview. Several have examples for you to test yourself with. @seulyoon_park
