Her boyfriend, Jesse Zeklos, takes her out for dinner one night to apologise for 'accidentally' hitting her, while there eating Rose says something that infuriates Jesse more causing him to scare her and she flees out of the restaurant. Somewhere down the road she sits down on a bench and lets all of her emotions out, a young, certain Russian sees her crying and, being the gentlemen he is, tries to comfort her. Rose finds herself opening up to Dimitri and he lets her stay at his apartment for the night so she doesn't have to see Jesse. All Characters belong to Richelle Mead, although the plot belongs to me!

This is set when Dimitri tells Rose that his love had faded. How will she cope with the heartache? A week after Dimitri leaves Rose visits him and Tasha along with Lissa at a party arranged by Tasha. Rose finds out the unexpected news and flees back to the acadeny where she attemps to tell Kirova. Kirova's reaction is unexpected and leaves Rose with no where to go, except one place!
