In which Phil Lester is the "freaky church boy" who everyone hates, and Dan Howell is failing english. Maybe they fall in love, and maybe they're cliche. Phil Lester is sweet and cute; known for his kindness and enthusiasm. Dan Howell is a tough, cold outsider; known as the school's stereotypical 'bad boy'. But if he's so bad, then why on earth did he rescue Phil Lester and give him a smile which would melt anyone's heart?

Dan and Phil's friendship has ended. They moved out from their flat and went their separate ways. Phil has tried to keep in touch with Dan, but he never answers. All of his emails are unanswered, but that doesn't mean Dan never reads them.

"I'm going to make sure you see how wonderful life is, Dan Howell, even if it's the last thing I do." After a failed suicide attempt, Dan Howell ends up in the hospital, where he meets Phil Lester. Phil seems to be the light in Dan's dark and depressed universe and gradually Dan realizes Phil is the one and only friend he ever had. Phil tries every day to make Dan's world less dreary, but can he save him before it's too late?

At school, Phil Lester seems to be the happiest person on earth, always smiling and helping others, but when he comes home, he breaks down. He is a selfharmer and avoids getting close to others, because he's afraid of hurting them once they get to know him. But then he meets Dan Howell and Phil has to choose: will he become Dan's friend and take the risk of hurting him one day or not?
