He is a headline speaker at a local convention that has attracted international attention and important legal figures from across the country, including his best friend, American detective Fenton Hardy and his two sons. Joe has become a detective for his local police force, and Frank is studying at Columbia, to become a lawyer. Nancy is confused by her feelings, when she sees Frank Hardy for the first time in three years, and his presence rekindles emotions of regret, anger and love.
