Cover art by the amazing @LNRoberts1 The Fall Homecoming dance is approaching and Cassie doesn't have a date. What's more, her friend, Eliza, has become seriously annoying. She's making enemies everywhere with Gossip Central, a blog she created to post stories about the rumors and gossip going around school. In Doña Catalina's Spanish class, Cassie meets an interesting, new student named Andrew, who suffers from schizophrenia and psychosis, and who is haunted by various types of hallucinations and voices. Cassie and Andrew become friends, and Andrew eventually invites Cassie to go to the Homecoming dance with him. Cassie definitely wants to go. Andrew's emerald-green eyes and his gentle soul have captured her heart. But his hallucinations and voices often make him seem odd and withdrawn, isolating him from other students. Cassie worries that Eliza's heartless pen will mock him in her Homecoming blog post, hurting his feelings and only isolating him further. How can Cassie make sure that she and Andrew have a fabulous Homecoming experience, while teaching Eliza a much-needed lesson in compassion? The wild card is Jake-frickin'-Norton, the most popular guy in the junior class. Much to everyone's surprise, he's invited Eliza to the dance, and she's accepted his invitation. And everyone is wondering, what's up with that? There's a lot of gossip going around at Woodrow Wilson High School, but amidst all the chatter, who's the real voice of reason? This was written for the @YA Fall for You contest. Prompt: This fall wasn't like any other, because I met him, and he... Author's Note: I wrote this story for our friends @YA, but also to commemorate World Mental Health Day, which was on October 10, 2023 and was not recognized on Wattpad. I'm a mental health survivor, and this story deals with a topic that is near and dear to my heart.

AMBY AWARDS TOP PICK 2024❤️ I can only see half of his face, reflected in the mirror at the front of the bus, and part of that is obscured by the peak of the black company-branded cap he's wearing. But I can see enough to glean that there's a strong jaw covered in scruff. A wide mouth that looks like it would be prone to smiling. He's wearing glasses with trendy light tortoiseshell frames, and I can't quite discern the colour of his eyes from my position . . . but some weird intuition is telling me that they'll be hazel, and I wonder when my brain is going to catch up. Because I *know* him, don't I? I'm almost certain of it. And he seems to know me, too. Or at least he thinks he does. The way he's glancing over at me lets me in on that. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mirren Shepherd has *many* pet peeves. Top of the list, though? Staycations . . . And surprises. So when her girls' trip abroad is cancelled at the last minute and she finds herself roped into a minibus tour of Northern Scotland instead, she isn't remotely happy. And when she finds out who their guide is . . . It's yet another reason for her to dislike surprises. Because Owen Sullivan wasn't so much the one who got away . . . He was the one who just didn't return. And, after she finally got over him, she never expected to see him again. Mirren would prefer to leave the past in the past, but Owen is determined to try to right his wrongs. Can she trust him? Can she trust *herself*? Maybe, just maybe, this surprise - and staycation - won't be as bad as Mirren thinks . . . ~~~~~~~~~~~~

After having her heart broken by the boy she'd been in love with her whole life, Brimmy Somell decides to take a little...vacation. Little does she know, it turns out to be much more permanent than she had originally thought. After meeting tall, sexy, and mysterious Marcello Pietro, Brimmy finds herself having to make a life-changing decision and putting herself in a dangerous position she'd never imagined to be in. °•°●°•°●°•°●°•° "I love you." He says with no hesitation. It takes a moment for my hazy mind to catch up. I'm still in a daze, mesmerized by his perfections, and the deep dimple set in his cheek. I blink, "What?" "Don't make me say it again." He says, sounding frustrated, but I catch the hint of embarassment in his voice as he runs his hand through his hair and takes a step back. I grab a hold of the neckline to his shirt and yank him back within close proximity of me. "What if I want you to say it again?" I ask, studying his eyes. "Isn't it enough that I said it once?" He scowls, trying to pull back, but I restrain him from doing so. "Nope. Just say it one more time and I'll be satisfied." I state bravely, feeling a boost of confidence I didn't have earlier. He glances down, then looks back up into my eyes, allowing me to spot the vulnerability and uncertainty he feels. "I love you." He says, putting more strength in his voice than he looks to have. I grin, pulling him in for a kiss, but right before I do, I say the one phrase that will seal my fate, "I love you too, big, bad mafia boss." ••••• The story may be rough but the comment section makes up for it. ••••• Word count: 51,173 ••••• Written and published 2018-2019
