De vreemdste dromen vinden plaats wanneer Sam slaapt op het harde matras en elke ochtend wordt ze wakker met een glas water en een boterham naast het kale matras terwijl er nergens een raam of deur zit. Sam kerft de dagen met haar nagels op de koude vloer en is het na drie weken zat. Met haar lang gegroeide nagels haalt ze woest al het behang eraf en komt dan tot een schrikwekkende ontdekking.
