Ever since they were babies, Odell and Nalani had been in and out of group homes. Odell never knew who his dad was and his mother died while giving birth to him. Nalani's parents both died in a tragic collision coming home from their anniversary dinner. Nalani and Odell both grew up in the same group home, so the older they got, the closer they became friends. By the time they were Odell was eight and Nalani was seven, they considered each other best friends. Nothing could break them up and no one could ruin their friendship. She slacked off in school then altogether, she dropped out. Once Nalani turned eighteen, she "aged out" of the foster care system and was finally an adult. When she got out, she didn't know what she wanted to do. Who she wanted to be. Or how she wanted to live her life. All she wanted was to know how it felt to be loved.
