The Cartwright clan has worked the farm for almost a century. On the surface, they are prosperous pillars of the community. But once a generation, a wicked harvest must be reaped, to ensure that the family never falls. The appointed time for Joshua Cartwright's offspring approaches. He has to remind himself that we all must suffer, so that we do not take our blessings for granted. Reviews for Birthright: @Finnyh "Birthright's uniqueness, quality, and authenticity are what set it apart. A piece to indulge every fan of horror, historical fiction, and Southern Gothic themes. Ian delivers a compelling story about a family curse through the ages, all the while keeping up a sinister tone and the 'feel' of a different time and place. Ian's Deep South horrors will never fail to entrance and haunt me." @rosaimee "Ambience and tone are incredibly well weaved, in that it's both terrifying and beautiful. With each chapter it grows in complexity, and a solid backdrop enriches the plot." @LynnS13 "Birthright goes to the heart of Southern Gothic. It understands that pace is all when it comes to this special breed of horror. It doesn't boil over or spill; it simmers and goes skin deep."

Inspired by a poem by Bianca Phipps I swear I wasn't looking for you. I was only looking for Personality; Classic Theories and Modern Research by Howard S. Friedman and the other person I forgot the name of at the moment. I wasn't looking for a much needed friend. I wasn't looking for someone to talk to. And I sure wasn't looking for someone to love. When I saw you for the first time my heart didn't flutter. I wasn't taken aback by you charming good looks or free-spirited persona. When I first met you I thought you were strange and annoying. But then again statistics show that 80% of all first impressions are actually false. Statistics also show that 76.6% of all statistics are made up; much like the one about first impressions. It came from beneath... Robert Wallace is an uptight botanist wallowing in his own failure in the backwater town of Ballara. After an earthquake rattles the quiet country town, Robert discovers a crack in his basement...and something else, something with an ancient and insatiable hunger, inside it.

Sail with me across the blue horizon. I will let you swim through my ocean of thoughts. Surf the waves of my emotions and dive under the deepest trench of my soul. Enjoy the privilege of reading the usual late night conversations with my drunken alter ego over a tower of freshly brewed coffee. Author's note: Majority of the photos used in here are not mine. I will edit the posts and put credits at every end of my poems.
