It is given to you, to determine what man or woman should be your lover. Who should be with you forever once you find them. If you find them. It's a mark that is only half-finished, the other half left on your soulmate's body. Heat emerges on the area of your mark when they're near, and cold grows the farther you are apart. For Anna Cardale, her shoulder is covered in what looks to be half of a wing. A beautiful red and delicate wing. She's quiet, stoic, and doesn't let anyone in. And she certainly doesn't care for a "soulmate" ever since escaping a terrifying past life. But when she moves to a new town and to a new school with a new care home family, her skin heats up. She feels her stomach churn in unnerved expression. It's as if something is yearning to pull her closer. And then she sees him. For it wasn't something that pulled her in. It was someone. And just like her, demons are living deep inside of his soul. Dreaded demons that keep him company. Can she heal him? Or is the other way around? Evanna Halls, a 12 year old girl tries to overcome her mental illnesses while dealing with bullies in school and a divorce from their parents. After a horrific accident, she is forced to move away from her normal life and move in with her dad, who became the step-father of 6 boys, making her their newest step-sister. Jayden, the youngest boy, who is the same age as her, despises her the most. Throughout the book, his backstory, along with many other dark secrets will be figured out. Author's Note:
I wrote this book when I was a teenager, during a time when I was working through a lot of intense feelings and experiences in my own life. The story reflects that period of my imagination and emotional processing. Some of the content involves abuse, bullying, and mental health struggles, and it may be difficult or triggering for some readers. I've shared this story because it helped me feel seen and understood when I needed it most, and I hope it can offer some sense of connection or comfort to others as well. Please take care of yourself while reading.

At sixteen, could you run the world? Could you look after the food, the water, the electricity, the government... the children? Evie Ballentrae isn't equipped to deal with any of that. But like everyone else her age, she doesn't have a choice. 'The Fan and The Things That Hit It,' is the Part I of The Sleep. - "At first I thought it was a joke. Some sort of well-orchestrated, viral meme thing. An overly elaborate flash mob. But after a few hours it was serious, after a day it was scary, the weeks passed and it was terrifying, and now... Now we have to make some serious decisions about how to live, and more importantly, what to live for." -

They say you don't know what you're missing if you've never had it to begin with. The Johnson sisters would beg to disagree on that one. They've spent the majority of their young lives being tossed around the foster care system like debris in the ocean, struggling to catch their breath, stuck in a current not knowing whether to swim up or down. When they finally get the chance at a family after living so long without one, it's not so easy letting those walls down and risking it all. Charlie and Lydia Tanner know what they're missing too, and that's a family to call their own. After struggling with infertility for the better part of the sixteen years they've been married, they've finally been approved as foster parents. They're ready to give these two girls their chance at a happily ever after, but we all know it's easier said than done, especially with a skewed system breathing down their backs. Follow them as they go through the ups and downs of parenthood and know this: family doesn't always mean blood, just like blood doesn't necessarily make a family. Cover by: MackieJay #Wattys2015
