She completely forgets about the incident until a year later, the same two members of the Akatsuki kidnap her. They take her to their base so she would work for them, but not as a member. Upon meeting Naruto, Kakashi, Sasuke and Sakura, Mei realizes that not everybody in the world is cruel. She comes to like the Hidden Leaf village and the people there.
