What remains of humanity now resides within three enormous concentric walls: the outermost is Wall Maria, the middle wall is Wall Rose and the innermost is Wall Sina. While most people stay hidden within the walls there are some who venture out into Titan territory to try reclaim the land, they are known as the Survey Corps. One member in this elite squad, under the command of Captain Levi, is Kaminari Moriko. Kaminari is special in more ways than one. Besides being apart of the Special Operations Squad for her skill, she has a secret that only a few people know of and one of those being the captain himself.

There were two things she wished to succeed in gaining. One of them was her father's acceptance. Freshly graduating from the 99th trainee's squad at the age of 17, Sophia seeks to join the Military Police in hopes of one day being able to move her whole family far why from the precarious Shinganshina District and into the safe walls of Sina. But one day, after graduation and a long four years have gone from her family, she returns home, proud to what she had accomplished and yearning to finally being able to bond with her family after all this time. However, what she expected as a family moment of approval and harmony, turned into one of dispute and disagreement. Her father's disapproval for her choice of life led to a father and daughter conflict with both sides sharing words that the two would later regret saying to each other. Being kicked out home by her own father, she leaves the Shinganshina district heartbroken and enraged. She wasn't expecting her father to ever forgive her, especially after what she angrily yelled at him: "I wish you'd be eaten by a titan so you can see what a dreadful choice was staying in this hell cell." But what she didn't realize is later that day her wish coming true. With Shinganshina and Wall Maria being breached and her family forever lost, all Sophia ever held dearly for was lost that fateful moment Traumatized and disheartened, Sophia hoped that somehow there's a way to take back every bad thing she said to her father. She never truly sought or hoped for any of the events to occur. All that she wanted was to be accepted as to who she really is, and wished for once to truly find the one place she can call home.
