As a child I was always afraid of monsters hiding in my closest, Waiting until dark to come out and scare little children. My mom used to tell me that there was no such thing as monsters and as I got older I believed her. Now I no she lied. Monster don’t hide in closet’s like cowards and scare little children, they walk among us and torment any of us that they feel is more pathetic then themselves. There humans that build their own security from fear and innocence of others. They cower from other monsters like themselves, never fighting a fair battle. Then there are the ‘normal’ people who also walk side by side with the monsters. Turning another way when the monsters strike, ignoring the war they know exist but refuse to fight. These people can also be cowards, refusing to stick up for the losing team because its ‘wrong’ and ‘un-natural’. They pick the winning team for a reason and why not? Why not pick the team that prey on others problem, why not help ruin others lives because you cower from others?. Then we come to who I call the brave. The people who know who they are and aren’t afraid to show it, the people who help others that are unfortunate enough to be caught by monsters. These people to me should hold the leadership, not the monsters. But unfortunately the world doesn’t revolve around me so the monsters still rule. Much to my distaste I may add. Finally we come to the people like me. Also cowards but for a reason. Monsters. Yeah I’ll admit that they scare me, and that I ran from them - more then once but there are more monsters out there then ‘brave’ people, so until then I’ll stay were I am. In the closet. We have different names - gay, bent, queer, homosexual, poof, fag, fairy but me… I like the word special. Oakley Charms is not your average looking teenage boy, with his small features and big eye's. This was all okay until he’s dumped into dumped into a school full of complete anti-homophobic, perverted

"Okay, where do you want me to start?" "Anywhere you wish." "There were five of us. Dani, Elizabeth, Audrey, Taylor and me. We spent about 9 months in the basement. The walls where cement. The floor was cement. We each had our own chairs. Dani had her baby blue chair with white roses in the upper right corner. Elizabeth had her pale pink chair with white daiseys in the lower right corner. Audrey had her yellow chair with white roses in the upper left corner. Taylor had her black chair with red roses in the lower left corner. I had a white chair with sunflowers that sat in the center, the very center of the room. Each of us had a light above our heads. There were no covers in the lights just the wires losely hanging with the light attached at the end. The front legs of all our chairs had buckles that when we sat down they were right where our ankles were like he knew just were to put them. There were buckles on our arm rests that when we laid are arms on them the buckels our wrist were in the perfect spot. I think its funny how we all never made the conecction." "What conecction would that be?" "That we all have brown hair, blue eyes, were 5'5, all weighed 130. That when you put the first letter of each of our names together it spells Death. I love how at one point we all thought something, right before we were taken. Dani thought she was going to get mail. Elizabeth thought she was picking up dinner. Audrey thought she was going to class. Taylor thought she was taking her dog for a walk and I thought I was going to marry him and that I loved him with all my heart."

Going through my pictures, I went to the one that I had just taken, and the phone slowly slipped out of my grasp. What had escaped my notice before is that the couch I had taken the picture on was against a window, which showed the backyard of the house. But in this picture, it wasn't an empty backyard. No, behind my smiling face was another one, outside the window. It was his face. Covered with a black ski mask, watching me. *** All 19-year-old Layna wanted to do was forget about the guy that broke her heart, and move on with her new boyfriend Brian.
