Ravine is a planet divided. After years of skirmishing between secessionist and loyalist forces, the spectre of a bloody planet-wide civil war is now all too real. As tensions between the factions boil over into full blown conflict, Darien, Amber and the operatives of Hammerhead Squad are drafted in to help colonial forces restore order. Called back from suspension, Darien is forced to confront a past he tried to leave behind, while Amber finds her principles being put to the ultimate test. The operatives are hurled into a confrontation unlike any they've ever experienced, one that ensures their lives, and the entirety of human civilisation will never be the same again.

MINDSLIP is the catastrophe which hits the Earth at 8.15am GMT next Wednesday morning. It began six hundred and fifty years earlier when Betelgeuse fulfilled its long-held prophecy to turn supernova. The radiation, gamma rays and gravitational waves hit the Earth at the same time as a coronal mass ejection. The combined bombardment causes all creatures on the Earth to swap minds, leaving people in animals, animals in people, men in women and children in adults. The nightmare which follows becomes a social and economic catastrophe. Geoffrey Arnold becomes a key figure in the government catastrophe committee, formed to resolve the myriad issues raised by MINDSLIP. Power generation, the health service, farming, pay, pensions, education, the banking system and asset ownership spiral into chaos. In addition, Geoffrey must save his wife from an imminent premature death brought on by one of the MINDSLIP effects. MINDSLIP is a realistic, frightening and sometimes amusing work of imagination which explores how people and families react to the world being changed beyond recognition. Note: MINDSLIP had been acquired by a publisher who, regrettably, has now folded. Rather than put the original version up on Wattpad, I have decided to give it a considerable edit. I'd love to know what you think. The early chapters might disturb, but hopefully they will also make you think about how you would deal with Geoff, Andrea, Angus, Caroline or Allan's situations. Federation takes close encounters to a whole new level. A galactic empire of a quarter of a million worlds stumbles across the Earth. Their philosophy on life is totally unexpected. With the help of intelligent automatons, they've turned a reviled political system into a utopia for the masses, but are they a force for good or evil? A Daragnen university graduate, Yol Rummy Blin Breganin, discovers that Earth failed in its attempt to join the Federation, and, for some unknown reason, members are forever banned from visiting or contacting the planet. Rummy had never heard of a whole world being outlawed. Perhaps it would be sensible to leave well enough alone but no, he decides to investigate... FEDERATION is the first in a series of near-future, hard science-fiction novels by Tony Harmsworth, the First Contact specialist. Submerge yourself in humankind's cultural and economic dilemma by reading Federation today. (c) Tony Harmsworth 2019
