Being ill & impoverished is nothing new to Skye Palmner- the upsurge in a radioactive wasteland made sure of that. Seventeen Years Ago, more than half of Tier Three's Newborn population were killed by a volatile radioactive wasteland. Those who survived were affected severely. Their cellular make-ups rapidly changed and warped into a strange form of cancerous cells. Scientists called them the X-cells. Previous studies illustrated how rapidly the cells were morphing, making them extremely combustible- easily killing the victim. Being the poorest society of the three Tiers in the European Union, the kids weren't given any special aids, leaving most of them to suffer and die out. That is until the Director General of the European Union decides to step in. His Lab Techs have been engineering possible cures for the X-cell, and have been taking these kids to experiment on. Skye Palmner isn't exactly enthusiastic, she's more so dubious, as she holds no trust for the Government. When they take her and her mates away from their Children's Home and to the Research Facility, Skye's doubts are augmented. She senses that something sinister is boiling beyond the surface, and what exactly is happening to those who get "treated"? She won't ever know until it's her turn.
