Fourteen-year-old Katie has spent most of her life believing she is worthless. Neglected by her alcoholic mother, abused by her violent stepfather, and left to wither in the foster system for five years, she has learned to survive by staying silent, invisible, and small. Frail, anxious, and scarred inside and out, Katie lives with the constant weight of nightmares, panic attacks, and the belief that no one will ever want her.
Everything changes the day Little Mix walk into the adoption centre. Expecting to leave with a young, bubbly child, they instead notice Katie-curled in the corner, pale and trembling, her wide blue eyes filled with fear. Where others see a lost cause, Jade sees a girl worth saving. Against warnings from the staff, who cruelly describe Katie as broken and beyond help, the group decide to take her home.
But Katie's pain doesn't disappear overnight. At school, she is targeted by bullies who call her weak, unwanted, and pathetic. At home, she flinches from every movement, terrified of being hurt again. With patience, love, and Jade's determination, Little Mix fight to prove to Katie that she is not a burden, not broken-she is family.
