When Emma Lucas meets devilishly handsome Markus Winterly, she has no idea that he only wears the mask of human aristocracy. And behind that mask a very ancient and powerful being has begun to take an interest in her; has noticed what even she does not suspect about herself. When her sister's life is threatened, Emma has only one choice: sacrifice herself instead and give in to the deepest and darkest desires that have begun to quicken in her heart. Amidst the sumptuous backdrop of midnight vampire balls, dark moors, and an ancient castle, Emma will discover the strength and light she never knew she possessed and uncover the many layers of the man-the very creature-she has come to love. A love that defies death and time, taming even the devil himself. And to survive, Emma must surender everything. Even her humanity. [COMPLETED] ❝I mean, for all I knew, their mother was a perfectly delightful woman or a nun or something; that didn't make the linoleum sting any less when I fell into an undignified heap in the middle of the ointment aisle of an overcrowded Walmart.❞ Alex spends his life dreaming of escaping. Or something pretentious like that.

Parents don't exactly realise the damage and impact that the occasional slight remarks they make can have. On the rare occasions that they realise they shouldn't have said something, they make the huge mistake of just assuming that the young ones won't remember. That the words they uttered are meaningless and won't leave an impression on their children. Sometimes, all it takes to fix it is an apology.
