❝tell her that i miss our little talks.❞ katelyn leary and allia williams met when they were seven, and had been inseparable since. nicknamed "the two musketeers" in middle school, they have been there for each other through bad break ups, dysfunctional families, and flunked tests. after being voted "best friends" in their freshman year, kate, as well as everyone else, was sure that they would remain as close as sisters for the rest of their lives. but towards the end of their sophomore year, allie cut herself off from her social life, kate included. kate was devastated, hurt by the fact that allie was so easily able to dismiss a friendship that had endured nine years and was stronger than the both of them. while allie continued to snub kate's attempts to rekindle a suddenly suffocated fire, kate tried to understand why allie was so eager to leave her behind. eventually, kate immersed herself in her school work and new boyfriend in hopes that she could move on from allie. five months later, allie committed suicide, leaving nothing behind. three months later, a new boy occupies allie's old house, and kate's pain begins all over again. still unable to come to terms with allie's death, she tries to cope with everyday life while balancing her ever-changing boyfriend and his personality. but with the new boy in town who seems to know all the answers to every question kate has, she finally has a chance to be at peace. but how will she cope with what she finds out? There in those city lights, there was no her and there was no him. There was just everything and nothing and the spaces in between, like flickering lights against a never-ending, black sky. There in those city lights, there was no love and there was no hate. There was just listening and talking and understanding every single thing, like the 'ready, stop, go' of car-chasers and dream-makers. There in those city lights, there was no sadness and there was no happiness. There was just candid smiles and wasted tears and bottom lips chewed off, like the overflowing boulevard of things unseen. There in those city lights, there was no lady and there was no man. There was just a boy and a girl, who promised to fall in love, not with each other, but in those city lights. Sometimes love isn't enough. Here are Alicia and Ethan at the start of junior year. Perfectly happy, utterly in love. Here is Alicia again, one year later. Perfectly heartbroken, perfectly confused. Because Ethan killed himself and left her feeling utterly alone. [cover by @Chocoluv3r]

Rosie Alder-Pembrook isn’t planning on letting her ultra-feminist club get shut down due to the senior class council’s budget cutbacks (and to be honest, it’s kind of killing her senior year buzz). But when it seems that the only way to revive it is to strike a deal with the semi-sexist/mostly ignorant Class Council president, Peter Bevan, to help him fix what he broke with ex-girlfriend/real life Barbie doll, Ella Hall, she’s made to wonder if it’s quite worth selling her soul over. And so, alongside her best friend, (who she’s sure wasn’t always this hot) a group of angry teenage feminists, and the outlandishly willing drama department, Rosie embarks on a mission to reclaim her beloved club – at whatever the cost.

Parker Elway is having dreams. Strange dreams; waking dreams; dreams in which she opens her eyes in the darkness to find herself paralyzed and surrounded by shadows from her deepest nightmares. The doctors call it sleep paralysis. But is it really so simple? As the waking terrors worsen and strange people begin to appear in town, Parker sets out to uncover the truth. And when she digs up a trove of hidden secrets and a dark past that everyone seems all too eager to forget, she begins to wonder: is her terrifying dream world merely the result of a sleep disorder? Or is it reality? [National Silver Medal Winner in the 2014 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards]
