"I steal smiles, Anu. That's how I live. I stole the smile of an innocent cherry tree. One who I brought in my life only to then burn it to the ground. You, Reema, my mother all are the same for me. And I am afraid, soon, I will steal it from my son too," ***************************************** 'Even after Anu's marriage to Neel, her husband, remained an enigma to her. His myriad faces that she saw over time. The man of the house. The stone. The facade. And yet, the forlorn.' Anu, a free-spirited 21-year-old woman, forced by circumstances, agrees to marry a widower with a child. But what surprises her is that the man is not what she thought of him. As she gets to know him, she finds out his scars, both on his back and his heart. Battling her own demons of the past, can she help a wretched man, one who is without any hope, see the light in the world? Two unlikely people lost in their own lives are joined by fate in an unlikely union. Would they be able to find themselves amongst their own doubts, fears and sadness? Note - Let me ask you, what's a typical story that you have heard, my friends? Rich guy marries a poor girl? The guy is dashing, the girl is gorgeous. And they live happily ever after. Familiar tale right? This is not that tale. It is a tale of life, of understanding the meaning of silence, and of trying to move forward breaking the chains of past The story is set in India but the context is very simple. Wherever necessary I have added details hence the story can be understood by everyone, anywhere in the world. Another thing, dear reader, I am not hungry for votes. I am hungry to learn. I would love if you can share your views with me, so I can grow while writing this book. This book is a journey and I am inviting you with me to embark on the ride.

"The laugh cracked loudly into the school's atrium, like a shot of a gun. A quick bullet. A deadly bullet the pierces through flesh and bone. I realized then... that a laugh was as lethal as a bullet." I thought bullying didn't exist. And if it did, I wasn't a bully. Except I was. We all were. Not because we beat kids up. Or we called people freaks. Or gave them swirlies. Because we never did that. It was because we laughed." For these three kids, a playful laugh cuts deeper than a fist ever would. And the worst part is...they laugh along. 1.Eliza hides behind the brightest smile and stuttered words. 2.Reece desires the perfect body and will destroy himself to do it. 3.Hunter is the bad boy with sick suicidal jokes, screwing both Prozac and girls. But it is more than just those three: 4.London sits in her wheelchair trying to be normal 5. Ashton needs to return to the surface of people and stop cowering in the digital world 6. Griffith hides his autistic emotions. The story is told by a girl who always laughs. Drama, love, pain, tears, laughter, depression, weaknesses. We all laugh. But what does our laugh truly effect? "Hands down this is the best book I've read on wattpad. I don't even know what to say. I mean... I just.... Wow." -Irxdeo This book deals with heavy topics such as depression, suicide, eating disorders, abuse, so read carefully. I want to say some of these characters and scenes in the beginning are based on real people and real events, but some are not. Hi, guys! Thanks for checking this story out. Remember be brave and kind.

Maera was a nymph. Or was she? She claimed to be a genuine Nereid from antiquity. Right out of the pages of Greek mythology. Well, that's what she told Doc Roussos who lived alone on the island. Kalamos was remote and sparsely populated. An exquisite pine-covered jewel that rose steep and majestic out of the turquoise and cobalt Mediterranean. Maera would visit Doc on those summer nights uninvited. Arriving unannounced, she would appear at his ruin--a formerly destroyed Venetian castle. It was a place over the years he had more-less inherited, as volunteer custodian of the archaeological structure. But who really was this honey-haired girl who began to invade Doc's chosen isolation? Somewhere in her twenties, beautiful, and with a musical voice and a graceful gait, she seemed real enough to the retired professor. But it was her nightly stories which gave him pause for disbelief. They were tales from a long-ago past. And not just of previous ages, but romances and adventures Dr. Roussos had been long familiar with. Mythological accounts capable of beguiling a charmed listener well into a world time before time . . . But were the stories all she offered him?

A Study in Scarlet is a 1887 detective novel by British author Arthur Conan Doyle. Written in 1886, the story marks the first appearance of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, who would become two of the most famous characters in popular fiction. The book's title derives from a speech given by Holmes, an amateur detective, to his friend and chronicler Watson on the nature of his work, in which he describes the story's murder investigation as his "study in scarlet": "There's the scarlet thread of murder running through the colourless skein of life, and our duty is to unravel it, and isolate it, and expose every inch of it."
