Eight years have past since the events of The Lost Future and now 18 year old Luke has gone into his second year at college. However, after three girls have disappeared, Luke needs the Professor's help in solving this mystery before it's too late.

The White Wolves, a group of investigators and bounty hunters, sent a letter of request to Professor Layton asking him for help investigating the recent events in the town of New Ville. The city is slowly dying. Not the people, but the plants. A young woman who is the White Wolf leader has supposedly fallen ill as the result of this. Layton and Luke, shortly after arrival, are teamed up with two young women named Alice and Margaret. Around the same time of the team being formed, Layton begins to have strange dreams about a lost part of his past, his daughter. Are his new team mates related to these dreams? Or is his mind running wild? Pushing aside the bizarre dreams, the city is quickly falling apart. Layton and Alice must work together to save the city and solve the mysteries that lay within before it's too late.
