Jonathan Abel is a hard-working, by-the-book inspector in the otherwise sleepy town of Mortacre. His days and nights are spent in service of "the greater good", making the streets a safer place for the common man. Inspector Abel was the instinctive choice when word got out of a new murder. However, all hell soon breaks loose as a string of bloody massacres continue to litter the streets, all in the dead of night. Simple bloodlust is not the motive of this killer... or is it? As the case progresses and Abel's own ideals are put to question, he soon finds himself face-to-face with an ancient menace. How far will he go to enact justice?
