Jewel Dixon loved to play baseball, even back in Alabama before she moved to the suburbs of Los Angeles. She gets along with her cousin and his friends at the sandlot except for one: Benny Rodriguez. The two of them don't exactly see eye to eye. Upon Smalls's arrival, Benny and Jewel begin to discover something they have for each other: feelings. When Hazel Smalls, a 15 year old girl, moves to a small town in California with her younger brother Scotty, she expects the worst, but is pleasantly surprised. She first meets a boy named Benny Rodriguez, who then introduces her to his group of friends, seven boys, all in which enjoy playing baseball at a beat-down sandlot near their neighborhood. The boys are extremely close, and Hazel, as a new girl, is expecting a summer alone; that is, until she meets them. Being a major baseball fanatic she decides to stay and watch the school baseball team play a game. What Hazel didn't know was that the events following would spark an everlasting friendship between her and her brother and the whole gang, and maybe something more. To be honest, most of them are extremely similar, so I tried to stay as original as possible, but I liked the idea of her being Scotty's brother because it gave a more realistic way to be added into the story so yeah!!!!!1!1!
