She was in love with words she'd never spoken, places she'd never explored, people she'd never met, and a world that didn't exist. Yet, she didn't believe the truth he vocalized like lies. He despised every syllable she uttered, every place she marked with her soft steps, the people she tainted with her pure voice, and the world she imagined. Yet, he didn't know the secrets she hid behind her mesmerizing eyes. ****** The purest of hearts have endured the most pain. The kindest of souls have been wounded the greatest. No matter how close you are to them, there are certain things you just don't say. No matter how lonely you feel, there are certain people you just don't befriend. No matter how much you've fallen, there's always a guy you shouldn't give your heart to... Sadly for me, I learnt the last one only after I had gotten my heart broken. They say that you shouldn't look down upon anyone, or you will be put in their situation and made to experience the crisis. When I was fourteen, I had rolled my eyes at a girl who was sobbing histerically over a guy who liked her best friend. And I was probably paying the price for that now. However, I was trying my best to fit my feet in the shoes I had been given. I was trying and I was managing just fine. What I didn't need was a trouble maker who entered my life without permission. The guy who claimed to be bowled over by me, the one with a broken heart. Little did he know, I had entrusted myself to Al Malik, The Owner of me and my heart. And if he had to reach me, he had to do so by pleasing Allah. Which wasn't possible for a guy like him. Or so I thought.

He struggles to keep his painful past that way--in the past--and often turns to violence and danger to keep his mind from revisiting it. Sabah Ibrahim. She's never smoked or had alcohol, never been to a party, and is extremely devout and conservative. She volunteers at the community center, helps out at her local mosque, and reads in her free time. They never thought polar opposites like them could meet. Or worse... When Salim comes home one day to find a random girl in his living room, he has no idea what to do except what he does best. Get angry and throw a fit. Especially when he finds out that this stranger is his so-called "wife." Unable to get rid of her, Salim must learn to cope with this annoying, childish, and sickeningly innocent girl he is suddenly responsible for.
