This is mostly gonna be based on their letters (which are indeed reliable sources, they're considered primary sources for a reason) but you'll probably stumble upon a crack chapter here and there. The dancing queen

A group small of 'freaks' is captured by ring leader James Reynolds and taken to his circus where he constantly abuses and mistreats them. The performers are known as Fallen Angel: Alexander, a very small boy with small and crooked black feathered wings. Maria and Angie: Maria Reynolds and Angelica Shuyler, a trapeze duo who were abandoned by their familes and became a partnered performance when captured by the circus. Elizabeth the Albino: Eliza Shuyler, who was born with pale, sun-intolerant skin, platnum hair, and red tinted eyes. Little Peggy: Peggy Schuyler, who was born tiny. She is the size of a girl around the age of 6 but is in fact 19. Two in one: Lafayette, who is intersex. Born with a boyish face, but is very curvy and has breasts. Hercules: Hercules Mulligan, who has super stregnth. Song Bird: John Laurens, who has large white wings, flecked with roan. He is also a very talented singer and will sing for the crowd.

Alexis has a nice life. She has nice friends, a loving family, pets that haven't died, a worthy education. She feels like she should be happy, after all, why wouldn't she? Because Alexis isn't a she.

After life threw Alexander around for years, things finally started settling down. He had a loving family, an education, and caring friends. A home. But of course, the world isn't quite done with him just yet. When he starts talking to John Laurens, supposedly bratty, snobbish, rich John Laurens, and finds out that what people say about him are nothing but myths he finds himself tangled on a secret friendship which eventually morphs, quite accidentally, into something more with the South Carolinian. He can't let people know about them, especially not his lovable but oh so overbearing brother Lafayette. It gets even worse when feelings are thrown into the picture. But whatever, what Lafayette doesn't know won't hurt him, right?
