In the busy city of New York, there is a pet shop called "Cat's Meow". Here, you can get any type of cat or kitten imaginable. But, this shop has a dirty little secret. In this world, there are such things as a human and cat hybrid called "Nekos". Many people dislike Nekos. They don't consider them human. In their minds, they were as filthy as any wild animal. The owner of "Cat's Meow", Octavian, captures Nekos and abuses them until they become submissive. Even if some of the Nekos he catches are already submissive. He then trains them to stay in cat form when humans are around and to never attack a human. He's gotten away with this for years. Now, this story isn't about him. It's about one Neko who has suffered Octavian's wrath, Nico di Angelo. Octavian turned this 14 year old Neko from a stubborn and independent boy to a meek and obedient pet. Every day Nico follows the rules Octavian set for all the Nekos in his shop. 1) Never try to escape. 2) When getting adopted, don't fight the humans. 3) Never attack him or any human. And most importantly, Never ever EVER leave cat form when a human is around. Nico's been content in the small shop, savoring the bits of food Octavian gives all the cats to share when he actually decides to feed them and following the rules to the point. But even that doesn't protect him from Octavian's cruelty. He was sure he was going to die in that old shop, alone. But, that changed the day he came. Will Solace. Will was 15 years old when he met Nico. After years of begging his parents for a pet, they finally agreed to let him get a cat. Will was overjoyed. He picked a small, black cat to be his. He had no idea that his new, shy little kitty was actually a boy that would change his life. (I don't own the cover nor the characters in this story. Will Solace is a normal 18 year old. In his world that is. Will is a werewolf. He is the heir to his father's throne. As the Alpha's son, he needs a mate in order to rule the pack and carry on the Alpha generation. But, each werewolf is linked with another person at birth. The parents have nothing to do with it. He was supposed to find his mate at age 16, but he hasn't. His wolf, Sol, has been saying he feels like the werewolf females are not his type. And when his parents allow him to meet werewolf males, he still doesn't feel any connection to any of them. When he sees a small male human brought forcefully into the pack, he suddenly feels something he hadn't felt before. A mate's connection. But, how would Will's pack react to having a human alpha? Well there's my biography. I'll have Will write his later. Anyway, this is the story of the Ghost King. Hi. I'm Will. Nico is making me write this. He told me to erase that last part. Shhh, don't tell him I kept it. Anyway, I have a sister in collage, a mom, and a dad. None of them are ever home. So pretty much I've always got a house to myself. I've had a crush on Nico for a while now, and I may have been...(I refuse to call it stalking)..taking very close interest in him for a long time. He never really seemed happy and I have this dire need to make him smile. But I've never had the courage to talk to him. Anyway, one day I followed him home. And found out he was abused. Nico has known Will since preschool, at least he thinks he has. In reality, Nico is suffering from schizophrenia and Will is the only hallucination he has that isn't hateful and cruel, in fact, he's just the opposite. Will Solace is the lead singer of Day Fighter, a rock band that's gotten wildly popular since they released their album Of The Angel. Will has everything he's ever wanted, he should happy, but the irony of it all is that the boy who inspired the album that brought him so much fame is the exact reason he's not happy. Nico di Angelo disappeared three years ago, leaving a three-word note and the necklace he used to wear every day as evidence that he ever existed.
