But what she did not expect was to show up on the first day of school to all three of her friends now in relationships. Fighting for their attention, catching some new and confusing feelings for long-time frenemy James, and wading through the pressures of post-high-school plans all have Lara reeling. And to make matters worse, Lara's beautiful and untrustworthy cousin conveniently appears and wiggles her way right between her and James' budding relationship. Feeling like a third wheel in more ways than one, Lara must learn to accept that change is inevitable, love is complicated, and being the odd one out is sometimes where inner power is found. Fallen stars never stay on earth. Such is the case of sixteen-year-old Carmen Esmaier, citizen of planet Terra and daughter of two of its most revered heroes. Shielded by her vigilante of an aunt since her parents' deaths, Carmen doesn't dare mention her dream of following in their footsteps and joining the army. But that all changes when a team of scouts arrives at the colony to host a contest, the prize being a coveted position in the army. For Carmen, that doesn't just mean soldiership and escape from her aunt, but a chance to work with Casper Conduir, her childhood hero...and perhaps something more than that. It doesn't matter that she'll have to navigate a jungle of carnivorous trees and the discrimination of half the colony just to get to the contest. It doesn't matter that she arrives an hour late, nor that she has no weapon. After all, she just needs to fight for her happily ever after, and it'll come...right? #MayJustWriteIt #ProjectWomanUp Cover by @Homely8

A star-faring religious cult has created an army of robotic zealots designed to follow holy scripture. As the robotic menace spreads across the galaxy, it takes prisoners to be 'excommunicated': hooked into a neural simulation of eternal torment. Captain Rolland Barron leads the Sol Federation Starship Excalibur on a diplomatic mission. Cassia LaCroix is a wormhole hunter, earning a living scouring the galaxy for valuable tunnels through space-time. Prince Zoojin, a psychic alien from a distant galaxy, must prove himself worthy of the throne of Paxis Prime. The paths of these characters converge as they pursue their own motives, leading them towards the mechanical legion that is sweeping across the galaxy. A dense fog surrounded me, confusing my senses. Suddenly, it cleared and a room solidified in my sight. Confusion swept over me. At this rate, it was becoming my new best friend. My gaze swept around the room, landing on a door that had materialized in one of the walls. I began to move towards it, instincts pushing my confusion out of the way. Before I could even take two steps, someone threw a hood over my head. My elbows and feet flailed, trying to plant themselves on my attacker. It was no use. Strong arms wrapped around my torso, containing me enough to drag me somewhere only God knew of. My attacker threw me onto the ground suddenly, pulling my hood off before I hit the floor. The room I had been in was gone. I looked around, but it was completely empty. That's when I heard them. The whispers. They were telling me to run. The same warning over and over again, getting louder with each second. I sprang to my feet, the room now swirling around me. There wasn't a door. I was trapped.

Going through my pictures, I went to the one that I had just taken, and the phone slowly slipped out of my grasp. What had escaped my notice before is that the couch I had taken the picture on was against a window, which showed the backyard of the house. But in this picture, it wasn't an empty backyard. No, behind my smiling face was another one, outside the window. It was his face. Covered with a black ski mask, watching me. *** All 19-year-old Layna wanted to do was forget about the guy that broke her heart, and move on with her new boyfriend Brian. What Layna never would have expected was that when he finally kidnaps her, she would have to undergo "The Test". The Test that the girls before her had gone through.
