*completed* Mike always knew deep down he was adopted, but constantly refused to believe it. That is, until one day when his real dad shows up out of the blue. But what if in an alternate universe the mermaid doesn't chase after the Prince due to her longing to have a soul, but instead pines after the Princess due to her closeted sexuality and longing for a female partner? Follow this retold version of the classic read to us as children, where wanting to be a part of their world is about more than just a pair of legs.
