12 year old Jackson Fickle lives in a Utopian society where everything is taken care of. Although according to society, the children are not supposed to be seen or heard. So adults look upon them as trash. When Jackson is shipped off to boarding school, something goes terribly wrong with the train, and throws Jackson into a world that they all thought they left behind.
