One night alone on the peer Charles cannot take it anymore and decides to jump. Erik however just happens to be walking by the peer that night and sees a man about to jump. They later both find out they shall be loving together But Erik's callous behaviour not only pushes Charles away but puts them in danger against the law.

Finding release in alcohol, he tries to forget all of what he has lost. He tries to move on with his new, broken family. But one man stands in the way of his happiness- the same man who took it away to begin with and broke his family. The same man who had caused Charles to become paralyzed from the waist down- Erik Lehnsherr. Erik has been racked with guilt ever since he had injured Charles- but he doesn't know how bad it is. Not until he runs into the man when they're both trying to rescue a mutant, and he sees that Charles is confined to a wheel chair.

He wants to make the President see how wrong he is about mutants and humans not being able to live in peace.
