He sometimes cuts but never tells anyone. He's also dealing secretly liking someone. John Laurens (John) is Alex's best friend, they've been friends since preschool. Laurens developed a little crush on Alex, which then grew a lot, to a point where he feels like just bursting and telling Alex. He is aware of Alex's suicidal thoughts and what's happening to him, he's helps out as much as possible and Alex is thankful, but John doesn't know about his cutting and another big secret Alex has. Lafayette, Hercules Mulligan, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, the Schuyler sister and possibly more are either mentioned or in the story as well. Jeffmads and Mullette are in here as well.
