Death has been personified in many ways throughout history; a dark, shadowy hooded figure with skeletal hands, the Devil, demons, even angels... angels... just the thought of it makes me want to laugh! We are far different from any of those beings. We can understand why you humans would believe such foolish things, though. You see, we used to be like you; slow, weak, oblivious to the world that is right in front of you. You give us many names; monsters, murderers, minions of the devil, and even angels of death. No, we are just like you. Physically, that is. And we are everywhere. In fact, if you are reading this right now, there is a good chance one of us just passed you by. Watching you. Making sure you don't see this. Oh, you poor unfortunate humans, not seeing the world as it truly is. We are the managers of life and death. We are the reapers.

I love fairy tales. I really do. I want everything; the Prince Charming, the white carriage, the grand ball, the beautiful gown and the glass slippers. In this case I get to have everything I want, except one thing… love. Yes, I’m going to marry the Prince Charming and I get everything that comes along with him. But I’m not getting the magical moments, the kiss under the moonlight and the proposal on one knee. This story has everything it needs for it to become a fairy tale, but it doesn’t have love. And love is what I want the most.

“We’re lethal, dangerous and most importantly, we belong the Academy. We’re their property.” I'm Gabby Brookes, I'm sixteen years old and training to kill. So I wouldn't get on my bad side if I were you. I live at Saint Hadwin’s Academy, a school for – if you be it – Super Heroes. Spies. Agents. Whatever you want to call it. We’ve trained our whole lives to protect the good from the bad. But there’s something special about us kids (aside from the fact we know how to kill a person in more than thirty different ways) each one of us has the ability we call a Major. A major is the element we can control: Fire, water, earth and air. I control air. Anyway, we don't do all this stuff for nothing, we get sent on missions, some low key and fine, but some highly dangerous. Yeah, you can guess which one I'm about to go on ... Let's just say the previous agent went missing and now It's my turn.

"It's unlike any paranormal book I've read--very smart, very fresh, and very addictive, and very still in my mind." –And Anything Bookish In 1692, when witch trials gripped the community of Salem, Massachusetts, twenty-six children were accused as witches, exiled, and left for dead. Fourteen of them survived. The Survivors is the first installment of the tantalizing tales of the fourteen ill-fated Survivors and their descendants, who have been content in hiding for over three centuries. Isolated on a Montana mountainside, only Sadie, the rogue daughter, dares to abandon the family’s sacred hiding place. But no matter how far Sadie runs, something always pulls her back. On a muggy summer night in Tennessee, she witnesses a shocking scene that will change her life forever. It is the first in a sequence of events that will drag her from the human world she’s sought to belong to for over a century and send her back to her Puritanical family. Sadie is thrown toward an uncertain future filled with cunning witches, mysterious nosferatu shape-shifters, dangerous eretica and vieczy vampires, millennia-old mythology, and the search for her own mortality. After all… HOW DO YOU KILL A SURVIVOR? The Survivors will steal your heart and invade your mind. Fall into the pages of Sadie’s life, a world so frighteningly similar to your own, you’ll find yourself wanting to go to the Montana mountains to find the Survivors for yourself. And it is only the beginning. "The way Ms. Havard has taken the history of the Salem witches and made it her own is truly fascinating... great debut from a talented writer." –DJ DeSmyter, author of Hunted “[THE SURVIVORS is a…] promising debut and an incredibly unique paranormal romance.
