The Blue Desert is the second book in The Lake Stone Trilogy. "Everyone deserves a home where they have someone that they love with them." Valhanan is the eldest daughter of Eada and the king of Vasda. Since before her birth, she was promised in marriage to the general of her father's army. Only when she turns fifteen does she learn of it. No matter how much she and her mother beg King Spyre to break the engagement, he will not. In an effort to hide from the arrangement, Valhanan retreats into the comforting stories from her childhood. She always dreamed of travelling to visit Tria, the land of her mother's stories, but she knew it was impractical. That is, until her mother gives her a chance to escape the engagement. Anan must travel out of Vasda; must leave her home forever to find a safe haven in the palace of Tria with Eada's brother the emperor. But ever since the king of Vasda betrayed the emperor, there has been no contact between the two countries. Could they ever believe that Anan is the daughter of their beloved empress? And even if they could, would they ever accept her?

Lewis Champion is in love--total, hopeless, unrequited love--with Jubilee Marshfield. Which is complicated, because she's his best friend. And even though his other best friend Shoe, and his awesome grandfather, Paps, are both rooting for him, Lewis can't get up the courage to tell her how he feels. He's always been a wallflower, watching people and making theories rather than acting on his feelings. In a last-ditch effort for her affection, Lewis acts in a play alongside his two friends, and he discovers a talent hidden within himself. But when Paps suddenly dies and leaves in his will a most mysterious task for Lewis, he must find a way to follow through. And along the way, he discovers the secrets of stories, the courage to say what he feels, and a whole new meaning to the word "acting." The only question is, will his best friend feel the same way, or will he lose her when he tells her? Baker Lawley, the award-winning author of THE BATTLE HYMN BLUES, spins a tale of love, drama, and friendship and a good old-fashioned road trip along the way. STEALING THE SHOW is a fun ride on the meaning of acting and the way stories and plays help us make sense of the things we act on.

“Love’s like a bullet. It’s fast. It’s furious. Sometimes you can’t see it coming. You can run from it. But you can’t dodge it. Unless someone stands in your way…” Growing up, Callie Tollson had always admired her older brother, Clay, for being exactly who he wanted to be…despite the consequences he faced doing so. With their roles reversed, Callie had always been the one to stand up for Clay when he was in harm’s way. She always thought this was enough. She thought she was able to protect him. That is until he turned the tables and unleashed harm back on those who had done it to him. She couldn’t understand why, being the one who stood up for him the most, she was the one he picked as the receiver for the final bullet in his gun. Now she’s the most feared girl in school with a haunting family tie to keep her stuck in the halls of Riverton High. As she tries to survive the rest of her junior year as the sister of the boy who brought a gun to school, she soon realizes she owes nothing to the boy who turned on her and everything to the boy who saved her life.
