As a Muslim girl, marriage is one of Safia's biggest dreams. All her life she kept herself pure for her faith and her future husband. Although having never had experienced love, and occasionally doubting whether she will, Safia feels herself growing impatient being single. She then sends her family to search for 'the one.' Trusting her family, she decides to say yes to the first person her family finds for her. She believes she will get married and face all her problems with her husband by her side. Is it really as simple as that? Yusuf feels a void in his heart. He tries to deny it, but he knows his mother's not proud of him. He knows she wishes he could be a little more modern like his brother. He wanted his family to find him a wife while he could focus on his deen (faith), but his idea of a wife clashes with his mother's. Seeing that his family were struggling to find him someone he likes, he decides to take matters into his own hands. But is he rushing into decisions without thinking?

I was the 6th-grade "slut." And I kept a diary. So I decided to create The UnSlut Project in the hopes that my own diary entries could provide some perspective to girls who currently feel trapped and ashamed. I am publishing these entries one at a time, without changing a single word except for the names of the people involved. My limited commentary, which is confined to brackets in each entry, is meant to provide the relief of my current perspective, fifteen years later. The UnSlut Project: Working to undo the dangerous slut shaming in our schools, communities, media, and culture by sharing knowledge and experiences.

3 years ago, my Step Dad adopted a son. His name was Hunter. For 13 years of his life, Hunter was neglected and abused by his parents. Beaten and raped, Hunter knew nothing good of the world. His Father eventually became a socio-path and shot the Mother. But as he was about to kill Hunter, Police arrived. The Dad shot himself instead. Hunter is now 16 and has been living in my family for 3 years. It's an understatement to say that we don't get along. Hunter is just angry at the world. He drinks and smokes and swears and fights. He kicks me and punches me simply because he's scared. He pushes everyone away. He has flashbacks and nightmares and can't seem to take anymore. Though I know he has reasons for being such an inconsiderate asshole, I still hate him. Our family has now moved to Cyprus. We're only staying for a while, so we just got a small appartment. Bad part about that? It's got 2 rooms. Me and Hunter have to share. At first I hate it. But then over the weeks, I begin to see how broken Hunter Storm really is. He's not just a dick, he's scared. And I'm slowly starting to comfort him through his troubles. We're getting somewhere, but then the worst possible thing happens. But strangley, it's bringing us closer. He's sleeping in my bed, he's crying to me, he's holding my hand. I'm holding him at night, I'm wearing his hoodies, I'm smiling at his touch. Before I even realize it, I'm in love. { Strong Language Throughout! Includes Physical/Sexual Abuse Scenes & Sex Please Don't Read If Bad Language Makes You Cry. "You know you can't hide from me, Miriska. No matter how many guards your father may assign to you, it won't be enough, I will breach every defense and retaliate every attack and I WILL have you in my arms, for the rest of eternity," the voice was a soft but menacing whisper hidden in the blackest of shadows. "Who are you?" "You will get to know me soon enough, my love. Worry not," the words came so suddenly, they startled me. "Where are you?" I shouted to the trees. I froze when I felt ice cold lips on the skin of my neck. "Closer than you think." ~ Notes. Disappearances. A stalker or two. Miriska Valentine feels unsafe and watched and she is. Why?

Doing the right thing is simple. Make the choice, help the helpless, do what needs to be done. He was fighting to survive. Every soul has a limit, and he was reaching his. I thought maybe if I helped him, if I did the right thing, I could make up for all of the times I'd looked the other way. Help him escape, and go on with my life. But escape doesn't mean freedom, and doing the right thing is never that simple. Sometimes fighting for someone else's freedom turns into fighting for your own.
