I will be your heart, if you will be my shield. In a world where magic supposedly didn't exist, Serena has spent years struggling to conceal her unpredictable singing magic. While wishing for a peaceful life where she can sing without fear, she sees a man in handcuffs being forced into a shady research center. Their eyes meet, and the soulbond is forged. Darien is not from this world, and he's been held captive for years. With the soulbond amplifying his strength, he can fight his way through almost everything, but not every danger can be fought with fists. Their love draws them together even as power-hungry enemies try to pry them apart. They want to control Darien for their own purposes, but he's too strong to be controlled by force. Their love is their greatest strength-and their biggest vulnerability. But magic has its own rules, and no song can go unanswered. Excerpt: I pitied the man, although with so many cops around him, he was quite dangerous. Who needed 30 police officers to supervise one guy who in handcuffs and leg shackles? I watched him walk down the gauntlet between the rows of officers. It was as if I couldn't look away. He paused and looked around. His brilliant glowing blue eyes seemed to meet mine across the vast distance. I couldn't even blink as his eyes seemed to hold mine. The trees of a park broke our locked gaze as the bus kept on driving. I took a deep breath, suddenly realizing that I had stopped breathing the moment our eyes met. I had never seen such blue eyes before-and they glowed! A shiver ran through me. I had been too far away to make out the color of the man's eyes. My eyes watched the trees, hoping for a break in them so I could see the man again. I had no such luck. --- Fade-to-black action fantasy romance Copyright November 2017. He was the Prince who wanted to be free. She was a thief. They both lived in a city of ruins and rebirth of a long ago civilization that got destroyed by pettiness and power-hungry men. In the shadows of history doomed to repeat itself, the street rat and the prince must band together to save what little world they have left, before the sands of time run out. **Excerpt** She yelped in shock, completely unprepared for him to be kissing her. His lips were warm and soft against hers and although he was holding her face he wasn't hurting her, just holding her. His kiss was filled with a burning passion, leaving them stumbling until Jaz hit a wall. His hands traveled down her body, settling on her hips and he pulled her closer. Jaz was out of breath as her hands involuntarily ran down his perfectly sculpted chest. This is wrong, a voice whispered in her head. Then why am I still kissing him? She felt her body reacting to his touch, reaching for him, pulling him towards her as much as he was for her. One of his hands traced back up her bare waist and tangled his fingers in her hair while his other hand roamed to her back, tracing the hem of her pants while his hand ran back and forth over her lower back. She felt the feeling in her stomach grow white hot and burn inside her leaving no room for rational thought. She wrapped her arms around his chest, fingers tracing the scars on his back. Her fingers were light as the ran up and down his spine. A deep, low noise came from his chest and he pulled on her lip, opening her mouth to deepen their kiss. She moved her hands up to his face, palms running over the stubble he hadn't yet shaven, and reaching up to mess up his hair. It was so soft between her fingers. Her eyes opened as his mouth trailed to the curve of her jaw and neck, his hand moving from her hair to hold the side of her neck, his thumb resting at the curve of her collarbone. This has gone too far, she thought.

Georgianna, a mysterious, unchaperoned lady, must join a California bound wagon train with a Joseon card shark in order to escape her unfortunate past. Georgianna, often called Miss Elliot, hasn't found a place to call home ever since her father's unexpected death. Driven from her New England home and forced to abandon her Uncle's plantation in the dead of night, she flees to the "Gateway to the West" where she hopes to join a wagon train headed to California - the only problem being, she doesn't know the first thing about traveling West. Lee "Card" Young, sometimes referred to as a con artist, has never spent more than two weeks in any town since before the Mexican War broke out. He knows how to manipulate a deck of cards better than most Americans could cut a steak. The saloon gamblers don't like his slick fingering but can't figure out how he's cheating, so they drive him out of their town on claims that "Chin-eese" don't belong among them. To avoid being lynched, he keeps a small suitcase filled for a quick escape to the next town - which happens to be Independence, Missouri. Will the Card Shark con Georgianna out of her money or will she con him out of his heart?

#9 in UTOPIA 3/3/19 I couldn't take my eyes off of Dean as he stared at the glimmering stars in the night sky. "I believe the story of our lives is already written in the stars. Our destiny is already given to us. The end of our lives will always end the same, no matter what we try to do to change it." I watched a strand of his blond hair fall over his ear. "What does that mean?" "It means that if you are the person who is destined to take the two parts of this country and bring them together, then it will happen one way or another." His heterochromia eyes found mine and I found myself entranced by them. "And Mel, by the looks of things right now, I'd say your story has started and you are already working towards your destiny." ** One country. Two nations. After the country split in two, the nations renamed themselves the Ameliorates and the Extricates. The Ameliorates live in a community full of stability and order. Melody Sharpe is the daughter of the Ameliorates' leaders. All her life she was told that the Extricates lived in a place full of chaos and destruction. What happens when she finds herself questioning everything she had once been taught? What does she do when she meets Dean Martin--the son of the Extricate leaders--who tells her that everything she knows is a lie? Why did the Extricates really split away from the Ameliorates? Why do the Extricates fear the Ameliorates more than anything else? Are the Extricates really the "bad" side? Melody starts asking questions--something she isn't supposed to do--and it might just lead her into the middle of a war.
