Their father has hardly been in their lives, his job as a drug dealer requiring him to disappear for long periods of time and causing them to move around a lot. But when their dad finally gets arrested, a man named Bobby Singer takes the boys in and enrolls them in a more permanent school. And as if his father's incident wasn't hard enough on him, Dean begins to question his sexuality when he meets quiet, introverted, and (he must admit) quite cute Castiel.

Castiel Novak and Dean Winchester were once the closest of friends when they were younger. But once middle school hit, Cas began to realize the feelings he felt for his best friend. In fear of scaring him off, Cas began drifting away from everyone, becoming very private with his life, and in doing so, cutting out his only true friend, Dean. Now, entering his final year of high school, Cas still can't shake the feelings he has for his, once best friend, Dean. But with the looks he's been getting from the new transfer student, it's hard to keep his mind focused on anything but his feelings. He still had so many questions, like, "Who was this new guy?" or "Why does he keep looking at me?" But the one question that really bothered him was, "Why does he look so familiar?"

A respected, but not respectable, punk senior at the oddly named Seacoast Academy, smack in the middle of Mississippi. He never appears to pay attention in class, or do his schoolwork, but he is a straight a student, making the teachers like him a bit more than everyone else, which is how he gets away with all the crap he pulls, although no one at the school knows that, and it mystifies them. Dean's been at Seacoast, a kindergarten through high school school, for his whole life, and is only ever home during breaks where the school closes the dormitories, which isn't often.
