"You must run," Helen choked, blood dripping from her mouth and eyes. "The book has chosen you so you must keep it safe." "I can't," Nomi cried, shoving the leather bound curse away from her. "Give it to Charity or Florence. They know how to defend it. They know what to do." "Goddess help us all, I wish I could," she scowled. "But it chose you. It sees something in you nobody ever will, so take the damned thing and run. We'll give you cover." Nomi grasped the book, her nails digging into it's frayed leather. "Where do I go?" "Anywhere but here. You're the Keeper now. Do your job." Nomi clenched her teeth, nodded at the doomed witch, and ran towards the docks. --- Nomi was never meant to be anyone, and she knew it. But, after disaster strikes her coven, Nomi Castellanos is forced to flee with the future of all witches in her hands. Without any destination in mind, she stows away on an outgoing pirate ship where fate's wheels throw her to the mercy of the storm, once again.

I was born this way, a beast. So few people accepted me. I found myself working in the palace in the country of Ishva. Terror struck and I was forced to flee with my prince to a nearby country where we'd be safe. My name's Beastly and this is my story. (I suck at summaries, I know. It's a lot better than it sounds. If you have any ideas please comment with them for a new summary. Actually, please just comment about anything, not spelling errors, cause I could really use some feedback. Thanks!)

"Mama!" I cried. "Akira, my sweet Akira." Her blood soaked hand seeped across my cheek. "Zero!" My friend, my closest friend, Zero the demon hound was at my side. "Take her away." Mama placed me on his back and planted a gentle kiss on my forehead. "I will always love you, my darling. Now, go!" And we were off, running from Hell and Heaven and the humans that had attempted to kill us all. I wrapped my black angel wings, the only of their kind, around me. Papa was the king of Angels and Mama was the demon Queen. My sister and I were hybrids, the only of our kinds. I don't know where Mizu, my sister, went. And, now, it's Zero and I against the world. "Where are we going?" "Earth." The home of my enemies. "Mama, Papa...I promise I'll take back your throne, if it's the last thing I do." *I'm so bad a summaries. Sorry. Comment if you can come up with another one. Thanks.*

She remembered being buried so deep in her own mind surrounded by nothing but darkness. And the voice that called to her. "Just give up," it'd told her. "You're better off dead." She remember hearing stories of the creatures that snuck into the minds of the lost. They take over. They were the reason no one went out past eleven or before two. The reason bodies covered the roads. "No one wants you," it'd chanted like some sort of mantra. There were special teams of people who patrolled the streets for these monsters. The kind of creature that rotted you from the inside out. She remember being told that once one got you, you were better off dead. And, after several agonizing days, sometimes even months, you'd be dead. It ate your soul until there was nothing left and then jumped to the next body. She felt it tugging at her meager existence. "Just die," it's told her. "Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die." It's claws dug deeper into her very soul, trying to pry her open and eat her from the inside out. She could feel herself start to crack. Darkness swept in like waves during a storm, tying itself to whatever it could. "Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die. Die." "Shut the hell up!" She finally shouted. She ground her fading soul into the creature until she was nearly part of it. And then she pulled back.

Cecily's blade swung, hitting its mark as always. The man's arm fell to the cold grass of the prison with a familiar thud. He let out a blood curdling scream. A warning to the rest. Stay away, the Hunter is here. That's the name they'd given her, the Hunter. After she cut off the man who tried to rape hers masculinity, they stayed away. She'd made it clear anyone who tried to touch her would be hunted and slaughtered. Cecily kneeled down, pushing the man's face into the dirt so she could use his back as a seat while she trifled through his belongings. "You're hurting my ears," she told him, no remorse in her voice. "Quiet down before I really do kill you." The man but his lip, well aware that she wasn't lying. Sobs shook him, making for an uncomfortable seat. She, however, didn't particularly feel the beed to kill him. It happened, not often, but it did. "Oh, hush up," she hissed, taking out a bag of rations with her metal hand, "it doesn't hurt that bad." With her good, human hand, she dropped the plastic bag of food into her own bag. She pushed up, off the man back. As she was about to walk away, bag slung over her shoulder, brushing against her autumn colored braid, she turned back to him. "Consider yourself lucky," she said, no hatred in her voice, there never was. "Consider yourself lucky that you didn't do anything stupid. And even luckier if one of the scum bagged criminals in here feel a little light in their hearts and help you. Consider yourself luckier if you die there." With that, her old black and white Nike sneakers carried her off into the brush of the huge prison.

Instant regeneration, shapeshifting, telekinesis, echolocation, fire breathing, invisibility, levitation, enhanced reflexes, super senses. Just a few of the symptoms these supposedly dead people woke up with. White Bloods, they call themselves. They share this world with us, and they're no longer human.

A Modern Magician Book I looked around me, assessing the situation. Two Black Hands were down and five magicians. There were supposed to be six. The hair on the back of my neck stood up. Instinctively my body turned. Fire, bright and burning was coming at me. My body moved itself, ducking under into a quick drop and roll, putting some distance between myself and my assailant. It was an older man, his eyes bright green. A magician. "You," he said, his voice ruff. A scowl grew on his face. "You. Traitor. You betrayed your own people." I unhooked my gun from my waist, ignoring the crying magic that I suppressed in my veins. Through grit teeth and the magma in my veins, I ground out, "I have no people."
