She liked to dye her hair quite a lot. She liked to change it up. From red highlights to black ombré locks; from auburn curls to a short blonde bob- Kirstie loved dyeing her hair. Especially if it meant she wouldn't be recognized, if it meant that she wouldn't be a typical human being. A typical human being, strutting around with sameness along with the rest of its kind in the world. No, she liked to be different. Physically and mentally.
That's what she told him, when they met. That day she almost drowned in the freezing pond, her hair the brightest thing in the smoky waters.
"Your hair? It's burgundy...different from others, for sure," he had told her, once he pulled her out.
"Yeah," She had responded. "I like being different."
"How so?" He had chuckled, as she smiled back at him.
"I'll show you."
But now he was gone.
And now she was only the same.
