Izuku's lifelong dream has been to be a hero. But because of his quirkless nature, he was denied his spot in U.A. High. Sure he could've been part of the hero support teams or even quirk studies, but he couldn't see himself working alongside the heroes without being one himself. So he became a different kind of hero.
