19-year-old John Laurens has been in college for four days before his roommate shows up. When John introduces himself, the boy doesn't say a word. So when Laurens asks for his name, he raises a hand and signs "Alexander Hamilton." This surprises Laurens just a bit, because this boy didn't look like the kind to remain silent. He's seen those people before, and the boy in front of him looks like he has a lot to say. But what's keeping him from speaking his mind?

In it, Laurens works the night shift at a coffee shop (who knows if a 24 hour coffee shop exists, but in fiction, anything is possible), that Hamilton decides to go to when after he gets struck with writer's block. Alexander was now living with the Washingtons, they had recently adopted him a few months ago. Lafayette was like Alex's brother, he was also adopted by the Washington family. For once in his life, he was happy. Lafayette introduced him to his friend group and ended up joining the "Revolutionary Crew" or that's what they like to call themselves. He has a family that loves him, good grades, good friends. Everything was perfect. Except one thing. He never told them that his name is Alexander, not Alexandra.
