What if a work of fiction wasn't fiction at all? What if we only thought it was fiction because it was written down, and we were separated from it by the page? Isabel Darrow, troubled by her past and feeling disconnected from the world, likes her doctor's suggestion that the world of fiction might become reality. She likes the idea of waking up in the middle of her favourite book with the handsome, brooding Mr Thornton glaring at people in his mill yard, but she doesn't worry about the foul air of dirty, smoky Milton, because it's not real, and it was written over 160 years ago. But then she takes a trip to Oxford, and gets waylaid along the way, finding herself greeted at a smoky train station, by a man called Mr Hale, who claims to be her godfather. When Isabel meets Margaret and first sees Mr Thornton, she's determined to help the course of love run a little more smoothly for the two stubborn lovers. But Gaskell hadn't accounted for a second young lady in the Crampton house, and whilst Isabel tries to adapt to a life where women have no independence or equality, Milton must adapt to her. The question is, will Mr Thornton adapt to her, or Margaret, first?

On this journey, she crosses paths with the owner of a cotton Mill named John Thornton, who like herself, suffers from an emptiness, a deeply rooted sadness caused by too many losses. A short story after the birth of John and Margaret Thornton's first child. -The story is evolving and I can't honestly say where it will go, if anywhere. When I have good content to write, I will continue the story. Thanks for giving it a try-

John Thornton. He was tall. Handsome for his age and was not the one for a real social conversation. A wealthy cotton mill owner in the north. Madeline Teller. She was young, beautiful and yet head strong. A clergyman's daughter from the south. When their paths suddenly meet after months of strict hiding, John finds that he loves her. But will Ms. Teller feel the same after all that they have been through together? (( This story is only receiving edits on already released chapters and no new chapters are currently in the works. I'm sorry for the inconvenience but this story was written a long time ago and I'm afraid I've lost my muse to continue it. Thank you for taking an interest. ))

From Gaskell's 'North and South'. Sometimes she would have given anything for him to look up and see her, understand the wishes of her heart.

Aurora Clarisse Edwards is sick and tired of dealing with her frustrated feelings. So when she gets an assignment to describe three things she would change about a classic novel, North and South is an easy choice. Perhaps she can-spoiler alert!-keep three lives from dying? Or maybe she can be the bridge of the complex love between her favorite characters; John Thornton and Margaret Hale. But when Aurora is mysteriously transported to the 1850s world where the novel takes place, she discovers that righting fictional wrongs won’t be as easy as she thought…especially when she develops a crush on the very man she planned to pair for Margaret!

Based on the televised adaptation of Elizabeth Gaskell's 'North & South'. When Margaret Hale moves from the South to a northern industrial town, her relationship with cotton mill owner John Thornton gets off to a shaky start but that changes over time, a little quicker in this short fanfic than in the actual story!

A short one shot and continuation of the story by Elizabeth Gaskell. This is my first time writing fanfiction after years of reading it. I might continue writing this story since I'm very interested in what M and J's life in Miton will be like :)
