"Hey?" I see the guy flinch, looking at me...but not truly looking at me. He looks in a odd direction, and I clear my throat. "Hi, do you...have my drink?" He asks me softly, his voice quite deep but somehow gentle. "I do, I'm the one that makes them." I tell him proudly, and I watch as a bright smile accompanies his face. I couldn't help but chuckle at how sweet he looked. "They're delicious." He compliments me, and I nod; but he still smiles. I set his drink before him, but he continued to smile at me. His smile was very sweet, but there was something off. "Uh..." He scratches his temple nervously, and uncertain expression crossing his features. "Are you still there?" "Yes?" I raise my eyebrow at him as I move to the side a bit, seeing that he didn't follow me. Especially when I wave my hand in his face...didn't even waver once or try to move back from it. "Can't you see me?" I see the guy's grin become solemn, looking off shyly as he shook his head no. "No, I can't." "Why?" I accidentally just blurted out, feeling bad that I was being this nosy. "My bad, you don't have to answer me-." "Why...?" The man breathes softly, and I watch him begin to remove his glasses. I'm startled to see eyes that are unlike anyone's I've ever seen. "It's because I'm blind...that's why." Copyright©️2017

"I don't want you to mark me" I said quickly. "Why?" he asked me, his tone seemed calm but i knew he was far from it. "I have a commitment towards my pack" I told him, hoping he'll understand but to my astonishment his eyes were dark now and he held his palms in a tight fist. "You are my mate Templar, you belong to my pack" he said in a condescending tone. My blood boiled at the tone he was using with me. Nobody talks to me like that. Nobody. "Do not use that tone with me, Everett. You are not my Alpha, I respond to-" none, i was about to say, but had to bite my tongue to change that. I was not ready to tell him that I'm the sole White Shifter, not ready to tell him I'm The Alpha of my pack. So i lied, again.

"Light up my darkness," he murmured against her bare flesh. His fingers trailed up her arm, leaving a blazing fire beneath them. His lips pressed softly against her shoulder and her eyes fluttered closed, accepting his touch. "Let go and I'll take away all of the pain." She desperately wanted to free herself from the torture of the heat, of the shift, of the sadness, but she pushed his firm chest away from her. She yearned to finally fulfill her place among the divine. She desired to guide and protect the species. She wished to eliminate the Challengers. The longer she endured the pain, the more power she would attain to help her fulfill her responsibilities. To the men who watched her ascend, it looked as if she was interacting with thin air, but she knew he was there with her. She smiled softly at him, caressing his cheek. "My Darkness, let the pain fester within me. I crave it." * The Betrayal is a part of The Marking Trilogy and cannot be read as a stand-alone book. The Marking must be read first.* Cover by @Finding_Bria
