When not killing your opponent isn't in the Warrior code anymore. When if you say "StarClan" you'll be punished. It's in these dark times that Stormkit is born. Being unusually colored and the runt of the litter, Stormkit is always the one who picked on. And that is how it started. When the only cat who was ever nice to her is killed, her hatred for certain members of her own clan only gets bigger. Can she survive all the violence and hate her clan has raised her on? Or will she succumb and became a murderer like everybody else?

SageClan remembers the night when Rookstar disappeared. Later she was found dead, body slashed with clawmarks. Many assumed it had been a rogue's attack, or that of a rival Clan, and Heronstar was quickly thrown into leader position. The charismatic tom was well liked among the Clan, and SageClan thrived. Smokebird is an observant cat, and Heronstar's brother. He was even named after his ability to notice things - he had vision sharp as that of a bird. Many cats did not survive, and those that did are weak and wounded. With no foliage, prey is scarce, and even the cats that remain prove to be more than the territories and surrounding lands can support. Cats are starving and dying, and the Clans fight among themselves and each other for what little prey and territory is left unscathed. In the midst of it all, an ominous prophecy rings in Redwing's mind, and his nightmares grow ever darker with each drop of blood spilled. All cats can't help but wonder: are the Clans really meant to survive?

Several generations after the war between StarClan and the Place of No Stars, a new prophecy arises that devastation will come and divide the Clans forever, but Whisperleaf is worried that the prophecy will divide StarClan again as well. No one seems to have any idea what the prophecy means: their only clues are visions of death and fire, while one cat is haunted by dreams of battles taking place far away.

Prophecies are works about journeys and saving clans via StarClan's designated cats. StarClan can't predict everything though, right? Sparkfur is hated by much of her clan. She's much more intelligent than any other cat, she's sassy, and an annoyance. They have half a mind to kick her out, but at the same time, they would never put the deputy's sister in the dangers of being a loner. That's the difference about DrizzleClan and its fellow bordering clans: the rogues are savages that will murder any lone cat in cold blood if they don't join up with the growing Rogue band. So no blunt prophecy from the heavens, but we do have Sparkfur and her tense-relationship with her brother Berryfoot to stop the massacres.
