Victor coaching him and competing at the same time is overwhelming, and slowly taking a toll on him. In a poor attempt to fight against his demons, Yuri convinces himself he's just going to be a distraction. He begins drifting, eventually loosing himself and his love for skating. When complications to Yuri's health start to arise along with past lovers, Yuri and Victor's relationship diminish and both decide perhaps it wasn't such a good idea for their bond to grow. They break the engagement and part ways. In months time, Yuri is back on the ice and he can't help but reminisce his time with Victor. With a heavy heart and a new look his return home comes with an unexpected turn of events when he discovers Victor at the foot his home, damaged beyond repair.
